Phonics

In Reception and KS1, phonics lessons follow the Rocket Phonics Scheme. The systematic structured phonics scheme ensures all children are taught with the aim of keeping up with the ideal trajectory, and the pace of learning is appropriately challenging with no children being held back.

Close monitoring and assessment will inform interventions, highlighting gaps quickly and ensuring children make accelerated progress.

Children in Reception and KS1 are assessed half termly using Phonics Tracker. Their attainment and progress is tracked and monitored.

Rocket Phonics provides clear half-termly expectations and weekly and daily plans to ensure a consistent approach to the teaching and learning of phonics.

Any child in KS2 that requires Phonics intervention will also follow the Rocket Phonics scheme and assessments.
