Design & Technology

At St Margaret Ward, we teach Design and Technology (DT) to develop children’s skills and knowledge in design, structures, mechanisms, electrical control and a range of materials, including food.

It encourages children's creativity and encourages them to think about important issues. It provides an opportunity to identify a problem and design and make a functional product based on a design brief.

Through the teaching of DT, children are encouraged to share ideas and communicate with their peers to discuss how objects are designed and made. They are given opportunities to work collaboratively to create products that they can test and evaluate.

We hope that good quality teaching of DT at St. Margaret Ward will inspire future engineers, designers, fashion designers, as well as those who may want careers in food technology.
