We teach Computing at St Margaret Ward Catholic Primary school because we want to make sure our pupils are best equipped to be a digitally literate part of the increasingly digital world.
We want them to understand the concepts of computer science, be able to demonstrate understanding of digital systems and be able to express themselves creatively, while developing their ideas, through the use of ICT. All of this needs to be done in a way that ensures their knowledge of their own safety and security is paramount.
We want our children to be confident, competent and responsible users of information and communication technology.
Children at SMW follow the Computing curriculum set out by the Government; this ensures they leave equipped to use computational thinking and with the creativity needed to engage in a future workplace.
Computing at SMW links deeply with mathematics, science and design and technology. Our pupils are taught the principles of computation and how digital systems are used in the modern environment.
